I have been a drug and alcohol counselor for over twenty years. I have witnessed the devastation of ruined lives and the high price people have paid for their addictions. A close friend and mentor challenged me to draw a picture of what devastation would look like. This picture can be truly revealing when you stop to see what only YOU see in this vision. I included attributes that challenge healing Like: Feeling alien and feeling like you are apart from rather than a part of. Critical voices of being our own judge and jury of the harshest measure. The path of life can at times feel like you need combat boots. The imprisonment of guilt and shame when a person violates their own morals and values or another interpretation could be wearing your heart outside yourself so others can tramp all over it. Can you see the beautiful mix of the beauty in the world and tears of loss and sadness? The contrast is beautiful.
